LinkNYC uses old phone booths as hotspots

New York has turned many of its defunct pay-phone kiosks into wi-fi hotspots equipped with touch screens. People can pop in to get directions, look up information, and more. The wi-fi works in a 150-foot radius of each booth and the movement is called LinkNYC. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2016/02/new-yorks-wi-fi-kiosks-are-here.html#
