12/15 – 2015 study of foster care kids and college

University of the Pacific in Stockton, California recently conducted a study of foster youth and college. The results were released earlier this year. The study concluded that foster youth require formal programs to assist them both financially and academically in order to improve on their 3% college graduation rate. A student named Amanda summed up the views of the study participants: “I wish I had someone who cared about my future as much as I did, so they could help me along that path.” This is why we do what we do at Blavin Scholars.
